Cambridge Fetal Care was founded by Christoph Lees and Gerald Hackett in 2001 to provide private Consultant specialist led ultrasound imaging and prenatal diagnostic services for women in Cambridge and the surrounding counties.
This service provides reassurance for those in whom all tests and scans prove normal, but on those occasions when the results raise concern we have the necessary expertise to provide the information and counselling for parents and to provide any further investigations that may be requested.
The service is provided within the Fetal Medicine and Ultrasound Departments of the Rosie Hospital, the maternity unit of Addenbrooke’s, which is a partner to
Cambridge Fetal Care. Although the service is a private one, a proportion of the fees are re-invested in the running of the Hospital’s Fetal Medicine Department to fund staff, research activity, and extra equipment. Our clinics run on weekday evenings.
At Cambridge Fetal Care, you will be scanned by a consultant obstetrician or sonographer with recognised obstetric scanning expertise and several years’ experience in fetal medicine. All doctors and sonographers that perform these services also scan in specialist NHS units. This means that they not only have the technical ability to perform these scans but also the confidence and competence to advise you if you have queries, concerns, or a problem is found during your scan.
All personnel are certified as competent in the measurement of fetal nuchal translucency and are regularly revalidated by the Fetal Medicine Foundation.
